Polyus fully recognises its top priority to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for every Group employee and contractor. This is an essential part of its long-term commitment to sustainable development and compliance with ICMM Principle 5: Seek continual improvement of our health and safety performance.

In striving to provide a safe and healthy work environment, the Group strictly complies with the Polyus Health and Safety Policy. To achieve the overriding goal of zero fatalities, the Group is committed to instilling a culture of zero tolerance to health and safety infringements at all operating mines and development project sites.

Health and Safety Policy

Polyus considers the health and safety of its employees to be of paramount importance.

We are confident that all injuries at our operations are preventable and we strive to provide a working environment which ensures the health and safety of our employees and contractors whilst executing their assigned duties and responsibilities.

To achieve this objective we are implementing a health and safety management system at all operating mines and development project sites of Polyus and undertake the following commitments:

  • Be proactive in preventing injuries and in protecting the health of workers through hazard identification, risk assessment and risk elimination or risk control in all our operations. We are utilising for this purpose all available experience, the extensive knowledge of our employees and international best practice in health and safety standards.

  • Be in full compliance with applicable legal requirements relating to health and safety legislation.

  • Encourage employees to timely eliminate and (or) effectively control health and safety hazards and to use personal protective equipment as and where required.

  • Hold all our managers and supervisors accountable for safety leadership.

  • Instil a culture of zero tolerance to health and safety infringements at all levels in the Company.

  • Disclose all necessary information regarding our safety performance and to engage our employees in all processes aimed at eliminating health and safety risks in all our operational activities.

  • Set clear health and safety performance indicators and continuously review and improve our health and safety management system and strive to sustainably achieve health and safety results on a par with the best in the industry.

  • Provide all necessary resources for implementing and improving the performance of the Company’s health and safety management system.
